Australian special envoy releases plan to combat antisemitism

CANBERRA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- A report commissioned by the Australian government has recommended that funding be withheld from universities and cultural institutions that fail to combat antisemitism.

Australia's special envoy to combat antisemitism, Jillian Segal, on Thursday released a plan to prevent antisemitism alongside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke.

Segal's wide-ranging plan called for the federal government to withhold funding from universities and cultural institutions, including art galleries and public broadcasters, that facilitate antisemitism.

It further recommended that children be taught about antisemitism in Australian schools and that visa applicants be screened for antisemitic views.
