SYDNEY, 10th April, 2022 (WAM) -- Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, today called for general elections on 21st May, after three years in office, during which the government faced catastrophic floods, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morrison's conservative government is struggling to attract Australia's 17 million voters, after opinion polls revealed it was trailing the opposition Labor Party, despite leading a buoyant economy with the lowest unemployment rate in the past 13 years at 4 percent.
