MANILA -- The Philippines reported 31,173 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, raising the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 3,324,478.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases rose to 275,364 from Wednesday's 270,728. The country's positivity rate slightly decreased to 43.3 percent from 43.5 percent the previous day. (Philippines-COVID-19 Cases)

CANBERRA -- Australia's medical regulator has approved the Novavax vaccine and two oral treatments for COVID-19.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) on Thursday announced Novavax's Nuvaxovid has been given the green light as a two-dose vaccine for the primary course of inoculation in Australia, meaning it has not yet been approved as a booster. (Australia-COVID 19-Vaccine)

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand's annual food prices were 4.5 percent higher in December 2021 than they were in December 2020, the statistics department Stats NZ said on Thursday.

This is the biggest annual increase since September 2011, when annual food prices increased 4.7 percent, Stats NZ said. (New Zealand-Food price)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan confirmed 6,808 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Thursday.

The NCOC said the country has conducted 24,356,373 tests so far, confirming 1,345,801 cases in total. (Pakistan-COVID-19-Case)
